About

Mr. Walker has approximately 30 years of finance experience. He has worked for prestigious investment firms and banks, ranging from small investment banking boutiques to large global commercial banks. His first firm, Alex. Brown, was acquired by Banker’s Trust after the Glass-Steagall Act was repealed. Mr. Walker was most recently a Senior Vice President at RBC, a large Canadian global bank. Mr. Walker is considered one of the world’s leading experts on alternative investments and amongst other accomplishments, wrote two highly recognized finance books. Presently, he heads “ICIG” (Institutional & Corporate Investment Group) for Aegis Capital.

Before RBC, Mr. Walker served as a Managing Director at Oppenheimer where he worked for entrepreneurs and helped them build their businesses and diversify. Before this position, he was a Senior Vice President, Corporate Client Group Director for Global Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley, he was named a member of the Chairman’s Group in recognition of his outstanding achievement. He was the Principle Partner of the Walker Group where he managed large pools of assets for select clientele. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he served as a Director of Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, Deutsche Bank’s North American investment banking and brokerage business. He was one of the youngest Directors in Alex. Brown history and one of the top wealth managers in the country. Mr. Walker helped grow Alex. Brown’s Corporate & Executive Services Group from its infancy into one of the most successful operations of the firm. He was also part of Alex. Brown’s elite Flagship group and helped institutions and some of the wealthiest families in the world select alternative investments. While at Deutsche Bank, he managed large corporate cash accounts, retirement plans, and helped identify opportunities with alternative investments for the bank’s Global Investment B anking division.

Mr. Walker holds an MBA degree in finance from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management and a BA degree in English from Kenyon College. He completed the Philadelphia Municipal Bond School and a three-year finance course conducted by the Wharton School at the Securities Industry Institute, sponsored by the Securities Industry Association.

Publications

Wave Theory for Alternative Investments was published in 2010 and currently in more than 200 prestigious schools across America as well as elite universities around the globe: Wharton, Emory, Penn State, MIT, Johns Hopkins, William & Mary, Michigan State University, The New York Institute of Finance, The University of Melbourne, Fuqua School of Business Library Duke University, Cornell, George Mason, UC Berkeley, University of Virginia, University of Cambridge, University of Richmond, Syracuse, Tufts, McGill University, University of Chicago, Texas A&M, University of Michigan, and many others.

Mr. Walker’s second finance book, Understanding Alternative Investments , was published in 2014 and issued by not only colleges and universities but governments on how to increase entrepreneurship and become more competitive with venture capital.In addition, pension consultants identified Mr. Walker’s book as the premier book on venture capital and other alternative investments. Wilshire used some of Mr. Walker’s book content for new indexes.

Editors of the Journal of Financial Planning asked Mr. Walker to write about Managed Futures. His article entitled “Riding the Right Wave with Managed Futures” was published in September 2012. The article has been used by academics and financial advisors to teach about alternative investments. (Item 3)

He was on Opening Bell and Closing Bell. In addition, he has been quoted in Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer, Reuters, Investment Advisor, Registered Rep, and the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Besides sharing his expertise by radio, television, newspapers, books, periodicals, and academic institutions, Mr. Walker lectures amongst his peers. He has spoken for iGlobal Forum- 2nd Annual Alternative Investments Summit, Barron’s Winner Circle, Pensions & Investments Defined Contribution Conference, Index Universe ETF Conference, Philadelphia Securities Association, and the Royal Oak Lecture Series at the Union League in Philadelphia.

In his financial career Walker received numerous awards and recognitions. While at Alex. Brown, he was a member of Alex. Brown’s “elite Flagship group”. When Walker transitioned to Morgan Stanley, he rose through the ranks and became a member of the “prestigious chairman’s group” for outstanding achievement. Aside from his work related achievements, Walker was frequently featured in publications that honored him for outstanding achievement. He was listed in the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the “Winner’s Circle: The Top Wealth Advisors”.

Philanthropy

Mr. Walker served as a Director of the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Montgomery County and was involved with many other charitable organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, Red Cross, American Heart Association, Philadelphia Art Museum, Please Touch Museum for Children, Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Franklin Institute.
